We made our “Stronger Together” button in braille.”
Twenty-six years ago ..., we passed the Americans with Disabilities Act.
While the legislation was a huge step forward for our country—it opened educational opportunities, expanded transportation, made sure everyone can enter buildings, and ensured that no one would be turned down for a job because of a disability—our work is far from over.
We need to build a more inclusive society where all Americans can thrive. That means doing big things like improving access to housing, transportation, and meaningful employment (in addition) to seemingly small things—like adding braille—that allow Americans with disabilities to fully participate in our democracy and society.
We took a small step in making that history a bit more inclusive and accessible by brailling our “Stronger Together Buttons.”
After developing the brailled “Stronger Together” button, we asked our friends and disability rights advocates, Mindy and Carl to come in, test the newly brailled buttons, and give us feedback. ...”
