A New Year's Day Read in 2 minutes
My
Top 10 "Democratic" 2018 New Year's Resolutions!
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Resolve to resolve to take care of my self, to pace my self re my
time and my energy, to not ignore important relationships and to
remind my colleagues in this upcoming fight to do the same when they need me to while we continue to fight against Trump GOP -- highly likely installed by Putin!
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Resolve to make
sure
the
anti-Democratic
factions in America know that more of us continue to wake up every
day and more of us continue to watch and more of us are going to
continue telling them what we think via phone, letter,
letter-to-the-editor, e-mail, petition, march, protest, Tweet, Fax โ and especially with our vote going forward.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Resolve to send
thank you notes to my representatives in D.C. when they are acting in
pragmatic accordance with the Democratic Platform (with a specific
reference to the Platform line!), despite limitations of being the minority
party, as well as notes that remind them the opposition is the GOP and
not other Democrats, as needed.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Resolve to research
relevant committees in the House and in the Senate and to know who
the committee chairs (and members) are, to create contact lists for all of them to communicate with them, as needed โ lobbying the opposition for what
is important for The People, per the American value/principle The Common Good, and to thank Democrats!
๐๐๐๐๐๐
Resolve to connect
with
my Democratic Committees โ local and state โ on social media and to work with my local City Committee to what we can to make sure members
of the Trump GOP are not in position to win elections in our area. We don't all share the same skill sets but, in my experience, we can all do something to help make a difference.
๐๐๐๐๐
Resolve to remind
my
City Clerk in my hometown that I remain concerned about the integrity
of our voting system in an era of Russian cyber attacks on our
elections, with no action from the Trump GOP to protect us
from said attacks โ to my knowledge -- and copy my mayor, my state
representative, my Secretary of State and my Governor with a summary
of the conversation.
๐๐๐๐
Resolve to communicate
with my representatives in D.C. by actually reading their newsletters; by understanding their job descriptions; by making my asks of them
within the scope of those descriptions, by sharing my thoughts
with them โ privately, unless there
is good cause for public comment because the GOP and the Russians
are my opposition, not Democrats.
๐๐๐
Resolve to ask
my representatives
in D.C. to explain โ for the record, and in writing -- their strategy
over the next three years to defend what is ours, American speaking, and to stop what is not conducive to the American People from happening, via anti-Democratic factions on The Hill, and
to get more Democrats elected...particularly in Congress.
๐๐
Resolve to challenge
people who cross my path and tell me they just don't want to commit to the Democratic Party because they
want to be โindependent.โ I understand the sentiment. I even shared it once. But it is no longer
acceptable to me as I am watching what apathy and/or lack of
commitment led to in 2016, i.e. a very slim win by Trump, that we don't take a stand.
๐
Resolve to double-down
on my effort to critique select media in the context of the Constitution of the
United States and the Democratic Party and to straight-up
encourage honest, relevant journalism that fully informs the
citizenry because it is their job โ per their First Amendment privilege -- to "watchdog" our Democratic Republic and inform us so we might keep it!

(Linked) "...is our 2016 platform...a declaration of how we plan to move America forward. Democrats believe that cooperation is better than conflict, unity is better than division, empowerment is better than resentment, and bridges are better than walls.
Itโs a simple but powerful idea: We are stronger together."

In
honor of women leading the American Resistance ~
" ... Susan, a Quaker, came from a background where girls were valued and educated just as Quaker boys were, but Susan began to see the real world when she became a teacher and was routinely paid about one-quarter of the salary she would have received if she had been a man.
Elizabeth was from a well-to-do family where boys were favored. Elizabeth married and began having children ... At that time, women had little opportunity to control whether or not they became pregnant, and it frequently happened that just as Elizabeth was about to attend a new round of meetings or take on a new push for voting rights, she would find herself pregnant and more or less homebound again. Despite this, Elizabeth attended everything she could and when she was needed at home, she served their team effort by writing speeches that Susan could use at conventions or on the road. ... "
