"Why the Hillary Clinton America Sees isn't the Hillary Colleagues Know

By Ezra Klein

… One way of reading the Democratic primary is that it pitted an unusually pure male leadership style against an unusually pure female leadership style. Sanders is a great talker and a poor relationship builder. Clinton is a great relationship builder and a poor talker. In this case — the first time at the presidential level — the female leadership style won.

… What I’m saying is that presidential campaigns are built to showcase the stereotypically male trait of standing in front of a room speaking confidently — and in ways that are pretty deep, that’s what we expect out of our presidential candidates. Campaigns built on charismatic oration feel legitimate in a way that campaigns built on deep relationships do not.

But here’s the thing about the particular skills Clinton used to capture the Democratic nomination: They are very, very relevant to the work of governing. And they are particularly relevant to the way Clinton governs." (Emphasis is mine!)

" … In her book Why Presidents Fail, Brookings scholar Elaine Kamarck argues that "successful presidential leadership occurs when the president is able to put together and balance three sets of skills: policy, communication, and implementation."

The problem, Kamarck says, is that campaigns are built to test only one of those skills. “The obsession with communication — presidential talking and messaging — is a dangerous mirage of the media age, a delusion that inevitably comes crashing down in the face of government failure.”

Part of Kamarck’s argument is that presidential primaries used to be decided in the proverbial smoke-filled room — a room filled with political elites who knew the candidates personally, who had worked with them professionally, who had some sense of how they governed. It tested “the ability of one politician to form a coalition of equals in power.”

Hillary Clinton won the Democratic nomination by forming a coalition. And part of how she forms coalitions is by listening to her potential partners — both to figure out what they need and to build her relationships with them. This is not a skill all politicians possess.

Network for Hillary! “Stevie Nicks Wants Hillary Clinton To Beat Donald Trump In A (Wait For It) Landslide"

Focused Hillary read in 3 minutes

“Stevie Nicks Wants Hillary Clinton To Beat Donald Trump In A (Wait For It) Landslide

If the presidential election goes Stevie Nicks’ way, she might be singing “Landslide” at Hillary Clinton’s inauguration.

It wouldn’t be the first time she celebrated a Clinton victory. During the 1992 U.S. presidential campaign, Bill Clinton used “Don’t Stop” as his official theme song, which parlayed into a Fleetwood Mac reunion at his inaugural ball. Oh, the ‘90s.

Before Nicks embarks on a cross-country solo tour to promote her two most recent releases, 2011’s “In Your Dreams” & the 2014 album “24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault,” she sat down with The New York Times to go on the record as a Hillary supporter & suggest a new theme song.
We’re all kind of over “Fight Song,” right?

“Of course I’m for Hillary Clinton,” she said. “It’s hard to think of anything as amazing as that song was for Bill. He picked it out when he was driving around in a cab somewhere... When she wins by a landslide, I could gather together the Dixie Chicks, Billy Corgan & everybody who’s ever sung a version of ‘Landslide.’ It’s not up-tempo, but it certainly would get the message across.” … “

Network for Hillary! “Hillary Released New Comprehensive Mental Health Policy Agenda" ~ A Plan for ALL!

Focused Hillary policy proposal read in 5 minutes

“Hillary Clinton Releases New Comprehensive Mental Health Policy Agenda" (A plan for ALL!  ⬅️ My words!)

Today Hillary Clinton announced her comprehensive plan to support Americans living with mental health problems and illnesses. Recognizing that nearly a fifth of all adults in the United States — more than 40 million people — are coping with a mental health problem, Hillary’s plan will integrate our mental and physical health care systems. Her goal is that within her time in office, Americans will no longer separate mental health from physical health when it comes to access to care or quality of treatment. Hillary has been talking about mental health policy throughout her campaign, since hearing directly from American parents, students, veterans, nurses, and police officers about how these challenges keep them up at night.

Hillary will convene a White House Conference on Mental Health during her first year as President. In addition, her comprehensive agenda on mental health will:

ONE

Integrate our nation’s mental and physical health care systems so that health care delivery focuses on the “whole person,” and significantly enhance community-based treatment opportunities.

TWO

Promote early diagnosis and intervention, including launching a national initiative for suicide prevention.

THREE

Enforce mental health parity to the full extent of the law.

FOUR

Improve criminal justice outcomes by training law enforcement officers in crisis intervention, and prioritizing treatment over jail for low-level offenders.

Improve access to housing and job opportunities.

FIVE

Invest in brain/behavioral research and developing safe and effective treatments. ... "
